Someone wrote and asked about Zipolite and the local info, so I thought I would write a bit. Things here are definitely changing, the people are becoming a little more prosperous which is good for them but for us, the oldies, who remember the $50 a night room or the $10 peso a night hammock, those days are gone. It is still relatively cheap to live and vacation here, but it depends on your financial status, of course.
Internet is $15 a hour
Peanut butter $40 pesos a small jar
Jam $15 pesos a small jar
Oranges $1 each
Bananas $2 pesos each
camineta from Zipolite to Pochulta $10 pesos
taxi $100 from Zipolite to Pochulta
taxi $300 from Zipolite to Huatulco
collectivo $15 pesos from Poculta to Zipolite
dinners in zipo are about $80 or $90 pesos which is out of our budget
pizza at Francos and Georgios about $25 pesos
beautiful delicious prawns at La Provedencia $130 pesos...but so yummy
a room...$250 a night and up....that is with a bathroom
if you share, less.
eggs 3 for 5 pesos
bread 23 pesos big loaf 18 for small...I think
Cervezas $10 before deposit
well that´s all for the moment!

Whales!!!
Wow! So wonderful today! Saw two whales so close to shore and they were spouting and jumping. It was awesome, we must have saw them come up about 10 times..before they went out in the distance. It was REALLY so beautiful. My first time, I never have seen them so close before and only a few times vaguely in the past but today they were just so close when we first saw them. What a wonderful treat! Canadians saw the groundhog...we saw whales!!
